Tragic N4 Collision Claims Seven Lives, Including Toddler
A horrific head-on collision on the N4 Toll Road between Belfast and Wonderfontein in Mpumalanga claimed the lives of seven people, including a two-year-old toddler, on Tuesday afternoon.

Accident Details
The devastating accident occurred around 2 p.m. and involved two vehicles. Initial investigations suggest one of the vehicles lost control, veered off the road, and collided head-on with an oncoming car.
According to Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, five of the deceased were passengers in a single sedan. The other two fatalities, including both drivers, were from the second vehicle.
“One seriously injured occupant from one of the vehicles was rushed to the nearest hospital,” Mmusi added.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Reckless and negligent driving has not been ruled out as contributing factors.
Call for Road Safety
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, Jackie Macie, expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy, highlighting the preventable nature of many road accidents.
“The N4 Toll Road is one of our priority routes. While we continue implementing plans to reduce fatal crashes, motorists must also play their part by obeying road rules and practicing caution,” Macie stated.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and wished the injured individual a swift recovery.
