Couple Arrested for Alleged Murder of Four-Year-Old Boy in BoitekongOn the evening of Thursday, July 4, 2024, a 31-year-old mother and her 26-year-old boyfriend were arrested for the alleged murder of a four-year-old boy.
The harrowing incident, which took place last year, has shocked the community of Extension 4 in Boitekong.According to reports, the couple allegedly killed the toddler in 2023 and buried him in a shallow grave in the bushes on the outskirts of Boitekong.
Suspicion arose among the residents when they noticed the child’s absence. The last sighting of the boy by neighbors was in July 2023, after which he seemed to have vanished without a trace. Concerned neighbors began to ask questions, but the mother provided various stories to explain her son’s disappearance.
This week, the community’s suspicions grew stronger, leading them to involve their Councillor. When confronted by the Councillor and community members, the mother allegedly confessed to the crime. She revealed that she and her boyfriend had killed the child and buried him in a shallow grave.
Following the confession, the Councillor and community members handed over the mother and her boyfriend to the police. The couple has been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear before the Rustenburg Magistrates’.
Provincial Police Commissioner, condemned the heinous act and praised the community for their restraint and cooperation with the authorities. “I commend the community members for not taking the law into their own hands and for working together with the police to ensure the suspects were arrested,” he stated.
He has also instructed detectives to exhaust all efforts to ensure that justice is served for the young victim.This tragic case has left the community of Boitekong in mourning, with many struggling to comprehend the senseless loss of such a young life.
